The
Ames Girls Softball Association (AGSA) program
has been serving the Ames community since 1973
and is open to girls ages 4 through 16. The season
runs from May until the end of June. The five

There is a $20 discount
for each additional player from the same family.
Financial assistance is available to players whose
families cannot afford the registration fee. In
general, there are no refunds of league fees.
Players may play above their age or grade in school,
but they can't play below their age or grade in
school. AGSA reserves the right to ask a player
who is playing above her age or grade in school
to move to an age/grade appropriate league.
Teams are formed using
a blind draft by the League Commissioners and
other board members shortly after the close of
registration. While every effort will be made
to form Pre-K thru 3rd grade teams by elementary
school or geographic area, placement on specific
teams cannot be guaranteed. Every effort will
be made to accommodate carpooling requests; however,
placement cannot be guaranteed.
Teams play approximately
ten games during the season and most teams have
two contacts per week (game or practice). Coaches
will contact their team members in late March
or early April.
There are three main sources
of income to cover the cost of league play: tournament
hosting, sponsorship from local businesses, and
player fees. The coaches and board members of
AGSA are volunteers. For information regarding
sponsorship or donations by your employer or business,
please contact Matt Carney (292-1594). The AGSA
is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation. Donations
are tax deductible. For more information about
the program or if you wish to volunteer to help,
